FAQ 1
-
Can I take a trial class? We ask that if you want to take a trial class before committing that you reach out the WEEKEND before class begins to see if we have room. If we do, we will send you a non-refundable invoice for the trial class in the amount of $25. This will be applied to your tuition for that session of the class if you decide to join us.
-
Do you offer drop-in classes? We offer workshops almost weekly! Visit our events page to what we've got planned ⬇️
-
Do you teach private lessons? We do, in styles that we teach (see our classes page for a listing of styles)! E-mail us at info@troydancefactory.com or chat through this page to inquire.
-
Do you offer local college student discounts? We do! Students of Capital District Colleges receive 10% off all classes (workshops, events, and merchandise excluded) upon showing current, valid college photo ID. To receive this discount prior to paying full price for class, e-mail a photo of your ID to info@troydancefactory.com and we'll provide you with the discount code to use during checkout.
-
Do you have payment plans? At checkout, you can choose the following: "Checkout," "PayPal," and "PayPal Pay Later." PayPayl's "Pay Later" option is an installment plan offered by PayPal. If you choose "Check Out" you'll be able to further select the following options in the Payment section of your transaction: "Credit/Debit Card," "PayPal," or "Affirm." Affirm is another installment plan option., and is the perfect solution for those who want to pay by check/checking account or need more than 4 installments spread over more time than Pay Later by PayPal. We are also planning to add "Splitit" in the very near future, which works directly with your existing credit cards to create an installment plan. To recap, you can pay in full using "Credit/Debit Cards" or "PayPal" or you can pay in installments using "Paypal's Pay Later" or "Affirm" (which also accepts payment via mail-in checks).
-
Can I stay on premises when my dancer is in class? We do not allow parents, guardians, family, or friends to remain onsite during class time.
-
Where do I park?Parking is available across from our entrance, which is behind River Street (facing the river, with the yellow door). There is a parking lot that is free on nights and weekends, as well as street parking. You can find more info on the City of Troy's website here.
-
What do I wear? All attire guidance is included within each class, as different styles may require different attire. For all classes requiring shoes, they must not be worn outside of the studio. This includes sneakers and heels. Our specialty floors are multi-use and shoes worn in from outside can damage them and cause unsanitary conditions.
-
What else should I bring with me to class?Water! This cannot be stressed enough. We have a sink in the bathroom for you to refill your water, but do not supply cups and there is no fountain on site. All ages, in all classes, are expected to come with a water bottle. Kneepads for many of our teen and adult classes (tap exluded). Thin profile kneepads work well. The proper shoes. All hip hop sneakers and high heels MUST be dedicated to class use only. Shoes worn outside of the studio bring stones, dirt, and other debris and bacteria onto our multi-use dance floor. This not only causes damage and unsanitary conditions, it is also unsafe for dancers using the room afterwards. A notebook. We offer our dancers free dance journals/notebooks, but if you have one you want to use please feel free to bring it.

Where is your phone number? I can't find it anywhere...In our 8th year we still don't have one. We welcome your e-mails. You can also contact us through our Troy Dance Factory Facebook page, and via Instagram profile message. We will reply as soon as possible. We also have a live chat feature on our website, and if we are available it's basically like texting us! We have a text messaging system and Facebook group for enrolled dancers, so we can reach you quickly if needed. And, of course, we have our personal cell phones with us at all times during class as well as a list of emergency contact numbers and will always reach out that way if necessary. You are always welcome to message us with inquiries about proper level placement, or anything else you feel is sensitive. Your messages are kept private, and are always respected.
-
Do you have a competition team?We don't, however we offer professional dance video shoots for dancers who show extreme dedication and promise, as well as priority selection for music videos when we are asked to perform in them. We also have mentorship in the art of choreography for performance class dancers who want to participate in our annual Choreo Ball for charity.
-
Is there an end-of-season show? Our performance classes culminate in an event called Full Out Fest! Information will be included within relevant class descriptions.
-
Is the showcase mandatory?Registration in a performance class is a commitment to remain in class and work with the team toward our August showcase, however you may join a performance track class from September through December without making the commitment to our August showcase. Medical and relocation reasons are excused, and this policy is covered in greater detail in our policy and waiver document that will be sent prior to the start of the session.
-
What about costumes and tickets for the annual showcase? Do I have to buy them?Performance dancers will be required to purchase a Full Out Fest (our TDF showcase name) t-shirt for use as your "costume" for the show. You will be required to purchase tickets for friends and family to attend the show, but dancers do not need to purchase a ticket for themselves. More information on ticket pricing and availability will be sent prior to the showcase.
